Mississauga, ON – November 13, 2012 – CDI College is now offering the Personal Support Worker program at its campuses in Mississauga and Scarborough.The Personal Support Worker program prepares students for a career assisting patients with their daily personal care needs. In just 24 weeks, students will become proficient in food safety, mental health intervention, palliative care and illness and household management, leading to a Personal Support Worker diploma.
In this career field, personal support workers become the first point of contact for patients in private homes or residential care facilities. As graduates interact one-on-one with patients, they’ll be responsible for promoting physical and mental activation, personal care and hygiene, and other daily living activities.
In addition, this program also includes a hands-on clinical practicum in which students can apply their classroom skills and knowledge to a real world caregiver and nursing aide position. The practicum gives students first-hand experience in the industry while under the supervision of an instructor and preceptor. Graduates will find a growing number of opportunities for personal support workers in Canada as the healthcare industry experiences increasing employment demands.
