The jobless rate in Sudbury, Ontario has many other regions in the country wondering what they can do to achieve the same low number. With an unemployment rate of 5.6 per cent, the Nickel City possesses one of the eight lowest jobless rates out of Canada's 34 largest cities, according to a release by Statistics Canada.

This decline in unemployment rates has created a different problem for the city. The area has begun to witness a shortage of skilled workers in a range of fields, including accounting.

Debbie Nicholson, the president and CEO of the Sudbury Chamber of Commerce shared with CBC News her belief that 2012 will be a popular year for new businesses.

"We already see there is a healthy growth in that," Nicholson stated. She mentioned the growing number of businesses that have already opened in the past months.

Several of these new businesses will potentially need skilled accountants and payroll employees.
