Mississauga, ON – May 27, 2015 – CDI
College’s Mississauga campus is hosting its 2nd Annual Big Brothers
Big Sisters of Peel (BBBSP) Walk-a-Thon on Wednesday,
June 3, 2015. Nearly 100 students and faculty have already registered to
participate in the walk, which starts at 10:30am
with 100% of pledge proceeds going directly to BBBSP.
For one hundred years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been
making a positive difference
in the lives of our nation’s youth by developing and implementing a wide range
of mentoring programs.
One-to-one and group programs, for both in school and outside of school. Last
year’s walk-a-thon raised a grand total of $1,300!
Making a difference
in our community — and having fun doing it.
Organized by CDI College’s Event
Management class, planning the walk-a-thon has been a rewarding cause, which
has provided invaluable practical experience for its students. CDI College’s
students not only have the opportunity to employ their knowledge and skills through
hands-on training – in this case, organizing school fundraising events – many
of them also partake in practicum placements where they can acquire real-world
experience prior to graduation.
In such a hands-on, fast-paced field, it’s important for
students to gain a competitive edge. Event planning and management requires a
keen eye and even better organization. CDI College’s Event
Management program will enable students to build on their natural talent
for pulling together a successful event and become adept in dealing with
finances, human resources, contracts, negotiations, and everything else a
professional event manager needs to master.
