Campus officials will host encore session thanks to overwhelming response to new program

Winnipeg, MB – June 28, 2011 – CDI College is giving potential students another opportunity to learn about the new Practical Nursing program at the Winnipeg campus. Due to an overwhelming response to the Practical Nursing Open House on July 6, 2011, the college has scheduled a second session for Thursday, July 7, 2011.

The open house events will provide students with information about the two-year Practical Nursing diploma program, admission prerequisites and general information about the college. The program features a comprehensive curriculum that includes foundations in anatomy, physiology and holistic nursing, as well as courses in nursing theory, mental health, pediatric nursing and acute care. As part of the program, students are required to complete several clinical practice placements in which they apply their knowledge and skills in a range of healthcare settings.

“We are very excited to welcome Practical Nursing students to our Winnipeg campus,” says Dr. Bohdan Bilan, VP of Academics for CDI College. “As the healthcare industry in Canada continues to demand knowledgeable and qualified workers to care for the country’s aging population, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) will enjoy a challenging and rewarding career.”

Successful graduates will be prepared to write the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE) and, upon passing, register with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Manitoba (CLPNM) in order to practice as licensed practical nurses. LPNs are able to work in various nursing areas including hospitals, medical clinics, long-term care homes, schools and community care centers.
