Position: Health Care Aide Practicum Supervisor
Job Status:Casual, Onsite
Location: 280 Main St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1A9
Expected Start Date: August 14
Reports to: Campus Director
Working Hours:35 Hours a Week. Monday to Friday 7:30am to 2:30pm
Salary:$ 30 - 33 Per Hour
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Specifically, the Supervisor will be responsible for:
  • Directly supervise Health Care Aide practicum students at external healthcare centers for a supportive and enriching learning experience.
  • Coordinate and deliver specific training sessions for each external placement center, ensuring students are well-prepared for unique facility aspects.
  • Work with on-site staff to align individualized learning goals with opportunities and challenges at each external placement center.
  • Provide immediate feedback to students, focusing on clinical skills, professionalism, and practical application of theoretical knowledge.
  • Guide students in real-time to navigate challenges at external placement centers, fostering effective problem-solving skills.
  • Provide regular reports to CDI College summarizing students' progress, experiences, challenges, and program enhancement recommendations during external placements.

To be successful in the Supervisor position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:

Education and Experience:

  • Certified Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with an active license with CLPNM
  • A diploma or degree from a university or college recognized by CDICollege related to Health Care Aide
  • A minimum of 2 years work-related experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of instructional experience or hold a certificate in adult education

Skills and Abilities:

  • Relevant industry skills and knowledge relating to the area of instruction, including ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Interest in pedagogical and multi-modal education approaches an asset.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation and group facilitation.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • High standards of behavior, a professional attitude and commitment to quality service.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other instructors and staff.
  • Ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of students, to provide feedback and treat students equitably.
  • Learn and use technology to enhance the student learning experience.
