St. Patrick actually wasn't Irish, he was British, kidnapped by Irish raiders at the age of 16. After 6 years of captivity, he escaped and walked nearly 200 miles to the Irish coast!
His real name was Maewyn Succat; but he adopted the name Patricius (Patrick), from the Latin word for "father figure".
He originally used the shamrock as a visual to represent the Holy Trinity, and created the well-known Celtic cross in an attempt to make Christianity more familiar to the Irish.
Every Monday we have a new and informative Mental Health Monday presentation for students to view! Mental Health is crucial for students, in particular; college can be a stressful time for students, with a lot of uncomfortable changes. That's why it's important to be in the best state mentally, in order to embrace those changes in a positive way.
If you, or someone you know, has mental health concerns, please dial 211 for assistance.
