February is Heart Month, a time to bring attention to the importance of cardiovascular health, and what we can to reduce our risk of cardiovascular disease. Here are a few ‘old fashion’ ways to get your heart and lungs working:
- Take a walk
- Walk the dog
- Shovel
- Go sledding
There is no way of escaping the cold here in Alberta - frostbite can sneak up without you knowing.
What to Wear
- Base layer – Wear something breathable
- Mid layer – Wearing wool will keep you cozy & warm (there are many synthetic materials that will also work)
- Outer layer – Wind break if it’s a windy day. Wool coats are cozy but won’t keep the wind off your skin.
If you get too warm remove a layer before you start to break a sweat. A cold wind against wet skin can cause hypothermia.
Below are some suggestions of how to share the love this Valentines.
• Send a card, image, or poem
• Delivery flowers to your Love’s workplace/home.
• Go old school - write a love letter and mail it
• Deliver a meal to your special person then have them join you on Facetime while you enjoy a romantic ‘distant’ meal. Don’t forget the candles and a beautifully set table.
