We have an exciting new program being offered at our CDI College Calgary South campus! The Veterinary Health Care Assistant diploma program has increasingly become an in-demand and popular career path. This 42-week professional training gives you the skills needed to keep animals healthy and happy. In the Veterinary Health Care Assistant program, you gain a combination of the clinical and administrative skills required to work in a veterinary practice.
Courses cover animal nursing, diagnostic imaging, breeding, breed identification, veterinary dentistry, animal anatomy, surgical preparation, and more. Students in the Veterinary Health Care Assistant program also learn how to effectively work alongside the veterinarian, in addition to acquiring the competence and empathy needed to work in a veterinary care team.
At CDI College, not only are you trained by industry-experienced instructors, but you can also graduate in less than a year. This hands-on training program offers your certifications in Standard First with CPR 'C' and AED, DOGSAFE® Canine First Aid, and WHMIS 2015. In addition, you gain real-world work experience from a six-week practicum placement, giving you that competitive edge when searching for employment.
Graduates from this program can seek employment in settings such as veterinary hospitals, zoos, animal shelters, and pet/product supply stores. Furthermore, opportunities for employment exist in health spas and hotels that advertise as pet-friendly.
